The Club

From group chat to grid

UShift started as a Snapchat group chat in 2023, when two students wanted a place for UM car people to find each other. A year later it was chartered on UM Engage as the University of Miami's first car club.

Today the club is about 200 members strong. The first meet drew ten to fifteen cars. Now twenty-five to thirty roll into Pavia Garage every other Wednesday: students, alumni, faculty, and anyone in Coral Gables who wants to talk shop under the garage lights.

Car meet FAQ

When are UShift car meets?
Every other Wednesday during the semester, 8:00 to 10:30 PM. The Fall 2026 dates are September 2, September 16, September 30, October 14, October 28, and November 11. There are no meets during Fall Recess, Thanksgiving Recess, or finals.
Where does UShift meet?
At Pavia Garage on the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, Florida.
Do I need a car to join?
No. Plenty of members pull up without one. If you want to learn about cars, shoot photos, or just talk shop, you belong at a meet.
Who can join UShift?
Any University of Miami student can join, and alumni and faculty roll through every meet. The club is about 200 members strong.
